MyParentTrail Terms of Use

Last Updated: November 6, 2026

These Terms of Use (“Terms”) govern your use of the MyParentTrail mobile application, website, and related features (collectively, the “Service”).

By accessing or using MyParentTrail, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the Service.

1. Purpose of MyParentTrail

MyParentTrail is a personal documentation and organization application designed to help parents and caregivers create, maintain, and organize records related to parenting arrangements and family circumstances.

The application allows users to document information including:

  • Parenting schedules and custody exchanges.
  • Scheduled and actual pickup and drop-off times.
  • Changes to parenting arrangements.
  • Communications and interactions.
  • Journal entries, observations, and incidents.
  • Children’s moods and wellbeing.
  • Photographs, attachments, and supporting documentation.
  • Calendar events, expenses, and other supported records.

MyParentTrail may organize user-entered information into summaries, statistics, and downloadable reports.

The Service is intended to assist users with maintaining organized personal documentation. It is not intended to encourage conflict, surveillance, or unnecessary scrutiny of another parent or caregiver.

2. Not a Legal Service

MyParentTrail is not a law firm, attorney, mediator, court, legal-advice service, or legal document preparation service.

MyParentTrail does not provide legal advice, legal representation, legal opinions, or recommendations regarding any user’s individual legal circumstances.

Nothing provided through the Service should be interpreted or relied upon as a substitute for advice from a qualified attorney or other appropriate professional.

Users should consult a qualified legal professional regarding their individual circumstances, legal obligations, or court proceedings.

3. Reports and Court Use

Reports, summaries, statistics, and other documents generated through MyParentTrail are based on information entered by users.

MyParentTrail does not independently investigate, authenticate, or verify the truth or accuracy of user-entered information.

Documents generated through MyParentTrail are not certified court records, official legal filings, or court-approved documents.

They are not designed or certified to satisfy the evidentiary, filing, procedural, or other legal requirements of any particular court or jurisdiction.

Whether information, records, reports, photographs, or other materials created, stored, or exported through MyParentTrail are admissible, relevant, persuasive, or otherwise accepted in a legal proceeding is determined by the applicable court or legal authority.

MyParentTrail makes no representation or guarantee regarding the admissibility, evidentiary value, or legal effect of information or documents created using the Service.

4. No Guarantee of Legal Outcomes

Using MyParentTrail does not guarantee any particular outcome in a custody dispute, mediation, court proceeding, negotiation, or other legal matter.

MyParentTrail is intended to assist users with creating and maintaining organized records.

Users remain responsible for determining how those records are used and whether professional legal advice is appropriate for their circumstances.

5. User Responsibility

You are responsible for the information you enter into MyParentTrail and for reviewing your records and generated reports for accuracy and completeness.

MyParentTrail does not verify user-entered information and is not responsible for inaccuracies, omissions, misrepresentations, or errors in information supplied by users.

You are responsible for determining whether and how information stored or generated through MyParentTrail should be shared with attorneys, courts, mediators, co-parents, family members, or other third parties.

You agree not to knowingly use MyParentTrail to create, store, or distribute false, fraudulent, threatening, defamatory, or unlawful content.

You are also responsible for maintaining appropriate copies or backups of important documentation and for protecting exported reports and backup files.

6. Your Content and Ownership

You retain ownership of the information, photographs, notes, records, attachments, and other content you enter into MyParentTrail (“User Content”).

MyParentTrail does not acquire ownership of your User Content merely because you use the Service.

The application processes and organizes User Content as necessary to provide its features, including record storage, display, statistics, reports, exports, backups, and optional synchronization.

MyParentTrail is designed to store User Content locally on your Apple device, with optional synchronization through your private Apple iCloud database.

MyParentTrail does not require users to upload their family documentation to a separate MyParentTrail-operated database.

You represent that you have the right to enter, upload, store, or otherwise use the User Content you provide and that your use of such content does not violate applicable law or the rights of another person.

7. Privacy and Data Storage

Your use of MyParentTrail is also subject to the MyParentTrail Privacy Policy, which explains how information is handled, stored, synchronized, and protected.

MyParentTrail is designed around local device storage.

Users may optionally enable iCloud synchronization to make supported records available across compatible Apple devices signed into the same Apple Account.

When enabled, synchronization uses Apple's CloudKit infrastructure and the user's private iCloud database.

MyParentTrail does not operate a separate cloud database for storing copies of users' family documentation.

Apple's handling of iCloud information is governed by its applicable privacy policies, security practices, and service terms.

Please review the MyParentTrail Privacy Policy for additional information.

8. Device and Apple Account Security

MyParentTrail does not require users to create a separate MyParentTrail username or password.

You are responsible for maintaining the security of your Apple devices, Apple Account, and any files exported from the application.

We recommend using appropriate device security measures, including passcodes, biometric authentication where available, and secure Apple Account credentials.

If you believe your Apple Account has been compromised, you should contact Apple or use Apple's account security and recovery services.

MyParentTrail cannot independently recover access to your Apple Account or guarantee restoration of information lost because of unauthorized access, device failure, or account-related issues.

9. Service Availability, Synchronization, and Data Preservation

MyParentTrail strives to provide a reliable and accessible application. However, uninterrupted, error-free, or permanent availability cannot be guaranteed.

The application may be affected by software defects, operating-system changes, device limitations, storage availability, connectivity problems, or interruptions involving Apple services.

When iCloud synchronization is enabled, the availability and synchronization of records may depend on Apple's services, the user's Apple Account, internet connectivity, and device settings.

Synchronization may be delayed or interrupted. Records may not appear immediately on every connected device.

iCloud synchronization should not be treated as a guaranteed substitute for maintaining independent backups of important documentation.

MyParentTrail provides supported backup and export features to help users retain copies of their records.

Users are encouraged to create and securely store appropriate backups, particularly before replacing devices, deleting information, or making significant changes to their data.

To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, MyParentTrail does not guarantee against data loss, corruption, synchronization errors, or the inability to recover records.

Nothing in these Terms excludes liability that cannot lawfully be excluded.

10. Record Deletion, Archiving, and Backups

MyParentTrail provides features for managing, archiving, and deleting supported records and profiles.

Certain deletion actions may permanently remove associated information after user confirmation.

When iCloud synchronization is enabled, supported deletions may synchronize across devices connected to the same Apple Account.

Deleting information from the application does not automatically delete previously exported reports, independently saved backups, printed documents, or copies shared outside MyParentTrail.

Removing the application from a device does not necessarily remove information previously stored in iCloud.

Users should carefully review deletion confirmations and maintain appropriate backups before permanently deleting important documentation.

MyParentTrail cannot guarantee recovery of information that has been permanently deleted without an available backup or other recoverable copy.

11. Intellectual Property

The MyParentTrail name, branding, software, interface, design, graphics, and original content provided as part of the Service are owned by or licensed to MyParentTrail and may be protected by applicable copyright, trademark, and other intellectual property laws.

Except as expressly permitted by applicable law, you may not copy, reproduce, distribute, modify, reverse engineer, sell, license, or commercially exploit MyParentTrail or its proprietary content without authorization.

Nothing in this section affects your ownership of your own User Content.

12. Acceptable Use

You agree to use MyParentTrail lawfully and for its intended purposes.

You may not use the Service to:

  • Harass, threaten, stalk, or intimidate another person.
  • Knowingly create or distribute false or fraudulent information.
  • Violate another person's privacy or other legal rights.
  • Access another person's device, Apple Account, or private documentation without authorization.
  • Interfere with the operation or security of the Service.
  • Introduce malicious software or harmful code.
  • Use the Service for any unlawful purpose.

Users are responsible for complying with applicable laws, court orders, and other legal obligations concerning the collection, documentation, retention, and sharing of information.

13. Changes to the Service

MyParentTrail may add, remove, modify, improve, or discontinue features of the Service over time.

Updates may be necessary to improve functionality, security, compatibility, or compliance with applicable requirements.

MyParentTrail does not guarantee that any particular feature will remain available indefinitely.

Changes to application features do not transfer ownership of User Content to MyParentTrail.

14. Changes to These Terms

These Terms may be updated from time to time to reflect changes to the application, legal requirements, or business practices.

When required by applicable law, notice of material changes will be provided.
