At MyParentTrail, we understand that family information is deeply personal. Our app is designed to help parents document parenting time, custody exchanges, communications, and important events involving their children.
We believe parents should remain in control of their own documentation. That's why MyParentTrail is designed around local device storage, with optional syncing through Apple's iCloud service.
This Privacy Policy explains what information MyParentTrail handles, where it is stored, and the choices available to users.
MyParentTrail allows users to create and maintain personal documentation, which may include:
This information is entered and managed by the user for their own documentation purposes.
MyParentTrail does not independently verify the accuracy of user-entered information.
On Your Device
MyParentTrail stores documentation locally on the user's iPhone or other supported Apple device.
This allows users to create, view, and manage records without requiring an account on a MyParentTrail-operated server.
Records stored locally remain on the device unless the user deletes them, removes the app or its data, restores the device, or another device-level event affects that storage.
Optional iCloud Sync
Users may choose to enable iCloud syncing to keep their documentation available across compatible Apple devices signed into the same Apple Account.
When iCloud syncing is enabled, MyParentTrail uses Apple's CloudKit service to store and synchronize records within the user's private iCloud database.
This information is associated with the user's Apple Account and is managed through Apple's iCloud infrastructure.
MyParentTrail does not operate a separate cloud database containing copies of users' family documentation.
iCloud syncing requires an eligible Apple Account, available iCloud storage, and access to Apple's services.
Information stored in iCloud is subject to Apple's applicable privacy and security practices.
MyParentTrail is designed so that the app developer does not routinely receive, review, or manage users' private family documentation.
Records stored locally remain on the user's device. Records synchronized through CloudKit are stored in the user's private iCloud database rather than a developer-accessible public database.
MyParentTrail does not provide the developer with a dashboard for browsing users' private records.
Users should understand that Apple's handling of iCloud information is governed by Apple's own privacy policies, security measures, and account settings.
Information entered into MyParentTrail is used to provide the app's documentation features, including:
MyParentTrail does not use the contents of family documentation for targeted advertising, behavioural profiling, or selling personal information.
Users may choose to add photos or other supported attachments to their records.
These attachments are stored as part of the user's app data and may be synchronized through their private iCloud database when syncing is enabled.
Users are responsible for selecting the information and attachments they choose to document.
Photos and other materials may contain sensitive personal information. Users should consider this before attaching or sharing them.
MyParentTrail allows users to generate reports and export or back up their documentation.
Reports and backups may contain names, dates, family circumstances, photographs, and other sensitive information entered into the app.
When a user exports, saves, prints, emails, or shares a report or backup, the resulting file may be stored or transmitted through services outside MyParentTrail.
The privacy and security of those exported files depend on where the user saves them and with whom they share them.
Users are responsible for protecting exported reports and backup files.
MyParentTrail does not automatically send generated documentation reports to the developer.
Users control the records they create and retain within MyParentTrail.
The app provides features for editing, archiving, and deleting supported records and profiles.
Some deletion actions may permanently remove associated records, subject to the safeguards and confirmations provided by the app.
When iCloud syncing is enabled, supported deletions may synchronize across devices connected to the same iCloud account.
Previously exported reports, separately saved backups, and copies shared outside the app are not automatically deleted when information is removed from MyParentTrail.
Removing the app from a device does not necessarily remove information previously synchronized to iCloud or exported elsewhere.
Users should create and securely retain appropriate backups before deleting important documentation.
MyParentTrail is designed to limit unnecessary transmission of personal family information by keeping documentation on the user's device or, when enabled, within their private iCloud database.
Local information benefits from the security protections provided by the user's Apple device. Information synchronized through iCloud is subject to Apple's applicable security protections.
Users are encouraged to protect their devices with a passcode or biometric authentication, maintain the security of their Apple Account, and safeguard exported reports and backups.
No electronic storage or transmission system can be guaranteed completely secure.
MyParentTrail is intended for use by adults documenting parenting and family-related matters.
The app may contain information about children when entered by a parent or other authorized adult.
Children are not required to create their own MyParentTrail accounts to be included in documentation.
MyParentTrail does not use children's documented information for advertising or marketing purposes.
Users are responsible for ensuring that the information they enter, retain, and share is appropriate and consistent with applicable laws and court orders.
MyParentTrail uses Apple technologies and services to support certain app features.
These may include:
Apple processes information in accordance with its own privacy practices.
Users can review Apple's privacy policy at:
MyParentTrail users can manage their documentation through the app's available controls.
Depending on the features enabled, users may:
Disabling iCloud syncing does not necessarily delete information already stored in iCloud.
Users should review the app's deletion and backup options before making changes that could affect important documentation.
We may update this Privacy Policy to reflect changes to MyParentTrail's features, technologies, or applicable legal requirements.
When changes are made, the updated policy will be published with a revised effective date.
Continued use of the app after an updated policy takes effect is subject to applicable law and any consent requirements.
